Remembering Peter Krykant

Remembering Peter Krykant

We are remembering Peter Krykant, his courageous and compassionate contribution to drug policy change in Scotland, and thinking of his family, friends, colleagues and community.

Peter was instrumental in driving harm reduction forward: by operating the safer consumption van during the pandemic, he enlivened and catalysed thinking about support for people who take drugs and showed that outdated legislation could be challenged.

He was a breath of fresh air in a world full of prohibition, stigma and shame. Throughout his safer consumption campaign and political activism, he always fought for the rights and recognition of people with experience of drug-taking. Peter will be sorely missed by so many.
