Drugs and Mental Health

We have just launched a new training course about drugs and mental health. The three day course offers attendees two days (12 hours) of the NHS Scottish Mental Health First Aid course (SMHFA) with a third full day exploring drug trends, signposting and supporting people who experience mental ill health and take drugs.

The course will cover :

  • attitudes to mental health
  • stigma
  • listening skills
  • recognising common symptoms of mental illness.

Key topics explored include:

  • anxiety
  • depression,
  • self-harm,
  • suicide
  • and psychosis.

This learning will then be explored in the context of drug use focusing on drug trends, how we can support people taking drugs as mental health first aiders and services available.

You can choose to book on to the full three day course to gain a SMHFA certificate in addition to a certificate of completion of Crew drugs training or, if you have previously completed the SMHFA course, you may wish to book on to the final day only.

The training will take place in Edinburgh in the lovely venue of Foundation Scotland. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. We are offering an early bird rate for bookings made before the 21st December so don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity!

Please book your place through Eventbrite where you will also have the opportunity to buy additional Crew resources along with the purchase of your ticket.
