We’re recruiting for three roles

We have three exciting opportunities to join our Emerging Trends and Training Team. Two of these posts are temporary roles until March 2022.

Crew is an award-winning national charity, based in Edinburgh, at the forefront of tackling new and emerging drug trends.  We reduce harm from drug use without judgement and improve public health with the input of people who access drug services, working with a wide range of local, national and international partners. 

Our Emerging Trends and Training Team is responsible for collecting and reporting on drug trends, delivering high quality training on harm reduction and drug trends and developing our information including our website, social media content and other harm reduction materials. Within this team we are expanding our offering of health-focused harm reduction interventions in nightlife settings. Read more about this work here.

Job Title:               Emerging Trends and Training Coordinator
Responsible to:   Chief Executive Officer
Starting Salary:   £31,000 plus 5% employer’s pension contribution
Working Hours:  35 hours per week
Office Base:           32 Cockburn Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1PB (with regular travel across Scotland) and working from home as required by the Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance.

Role Purpose:

To coordinate, design, plan, deliver and evaluate a range of training courses offered by Crew including emerging trends, new psychoactive substances (NPS), psychostimulants, and effective interventions with people who take drugs. You will be the knowledge and training lead for the organisation on new drugs, coordinating Crew’s emerging trends work. You will also work with and offer consultancy to organisations including but not limited to Alcohol and Drug Partnerships, councils, Police Scotland, the NHS, the Scottish Prison Service and voluntary agencies to share knowledge and respond to drug trends.

The below roles are temporary until 31st March 2022 to provide maternity cover.

Job Title:              Temporary Maternity Cover Nightlife Harm Reduction Coordinator to 31st March 2022
Responsible to:    Emerging Trends and Training Coordinator
Salary Scale:          £30,000
Working Hours:    35 hours weekly (1.0 FTE) including antisocial hours and weekend work
Office Base:               6 Anchor Close, Edinburgh EH1 1PB, at events or working from home according to Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance.

Role Purpose:

To lead and manage proactive, assertive nightlife harm reduction interventions and to encourage ambition, motivate and support people to make changes to their drug use. This will reduce drug (including alcohol) related harm and encourage early access to treatment, improving health and social outcomes for those often furthest from treatment.  You will also be responsible for designing and delivering training to people working in and participating in nightlife settings.

Job Title:                Temporary Maternity Cover Training and Communications Officer to 31st March 2022
Responsible to:   Emerging Trends and Training Coordinator (ETTC)
Starting Salary:      £28,126 plus 5% employer’s pension contribution
Working Hours:  35 hours per week
Office Base:             6 Anchor Close, Edinburgh EH1 1PB (with regular travel across Scotland) and working from home as required by Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance.

Role Purpose:

To advance knowledge, skills and understanding within Crew team and the wider workforce and to reduce drug related harm for people who use drugs by providing high quality training and promoting key harm reduction and health promotion messages.  Working with organisations including but not limited to councils, Police Scotland, the NHS, the Scottish Prison Service and voluntary agencies to share knowledge and respond to drug trends. You’ll design, plan, pilot, deliver and evaluate training courses including drug trends, psychostimulants and effective interventions with people who use drugs. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering our communications strategy, social media output and digital content.
